How I solved the "File Not Found" Dilema
This is not related to any podcasts, but since I did not find any answers on the Internet for my problem, I thought I would share.
A couple of times my external hard drives have shown me my directories each directory reports "File not found," meaning they appear empty, but I know they are are.
The solution? I powered the external hard drive down, waited for Windows (Vista in this case) to bleep that it noticed the disconnected device, and then powered it back up. Technical note: the powering down was done by pulling the plug!
After power up... bleep of recognition... then my files are back.
I have only one clue. I have Tivo Desktop and Tivo Server going and my default download location is on the external hard drive. When I was having the problem, I used the Command Prompt to navigate to the drive (successful) and look in the directory where my default Tivo download directory is located. Oddly, all of the directories that should be there were these EXCEPT the Tivo download directory! To repeat, ALL the directories on my external hard drive reported "Files not Found" but only the Tivo default download directory (which appears to have a special relationship with the OS in the sense that it gets a fancy little Tivo icon) was missing.

Weekly Update - October 26
I have been listening to more "non-fiction" lately. Dr. Pogge, the instructor of Astronomy 161 reviewed previously, is back and podcasting another set of lectures for the same class he did in 2006... but updated with whatever new information has crept into astronomy since last year. Lectures 3-11 on what can be observed with naked-eye astronomy are incredibly fascinating. Make no mistake, you are being asked to absorb a lot of information and without drawing pictures or really thinking about what is being said it will begin to pass you by. But if you really "get" this stuff (and it will take me several listenings to achieve this) you will give yourself a valuable real understanding about why the full moon is never seen in the daytime and how we tell time. This is fundamental knowledge every human being should know and by knowing, gain a much deeper connection to the universe in which your existence is played out.
In Our Time is back from summer holiday with great shows recently on Socrates, Anti-matter and The Arabian Nights. The shows are a wonderful way to take ephemeral knowledge of subjects and deepen them... or simply spark your interest in exploring further.
I've stopped listening to two Fantasy Football netcasts previously reviewed. The Fantasy Football Guys had to go... too much bickering between the hosts. Also, sadly, I had to drop The Fantasy Football Roundtable; the audio has gotten progressively worse this year... culminating with 10 minutes of static at the end of the last podcast... The final straw.
I have picked up three new ones, Fantasy Football Empire, CBS Sports Fantasy Football Podcast and Fantasy Football Weekly - KFAN AM. All good... perhaps you'll see reviews from me on these shortly.
Decoder Ring Theatre has started producing new Red Panda episodes again. Check them out if you haven't done so yet.
